The „Church School” book fair, held at the „Metropolitan Dosoftei” Orthodox Theological High School Seminary in Suceava, could be called „Taifas on the book porch, on the National Flag of Romania Day” or „Crowns in Sunday School Day” or „Holy doxology of St. John the New” and „Epilogue to Midsummer and the Universal Day of the Jubilee”, because each of them holds meanings for the time spent together.
The multiple event was organized by the Suceava County School Inspectorate, in partnership with the „George Tofan” Suceava Teacher's House, the Orthodox High School Theological Seminary „Mitropolitul Dosoftei” Suceava and the Theological-Educational Sector of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuților, with the blessing of His Most Reverend Father Archbishop Calinic.
In the gallery of the book fair, 54 titles - volumes with theological, historical, linguistic, literary, didactic and/or methodical content, some of them in bilingual editions, signed and/or coordinated by teachers and priests of Suceava. Last but not least, the review of the diorthodox text of the The Life and Homage of St. Great Martyr John the New from Suceava (Crimca Publishing House, Suceava, 2021), about which the archdeacon Prof. Dr. Vasile Demciuc said that „It is a book that should be in the home of every Christian because in its pages we find admirable thoughts about the Christian faith, about the value and power of prayer. (...) pages, written in a documented way, which urge us to follow the model of being Christian”. A text that bears the signature of Father Archbishop Calinic, written in a metaphorical logic of chronological and profound evocation, in an erudite and elevated language, with a broad phrasing, which knows how to raise the soul in volutes of humility and repentance and prayer towards Heaven.
This was followed by the „celebration of crowns”, an open-space dedicated to sharing the experience of some Sunday Schools in the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuților, a program initiated and developed by His Most Eminent Eminence the Archbishop, as well as programs and projects subsumed under the School-Church partnership, carried out in the just ended school year. It was also a space for dialog on a multitude of instructive, catechetical and socio-educational activities that have become commonplace in Sunday schools: catechetical workshops; interpretative/comprehensive Bible reading and/or creative-reflective writing workshops; creative workshops; quality leisure, volunteer and community initiative activities; socio-educational and cultural activities, support and counseling for children at risk and/or unable to participate in online learning; summer school; all facilitated by priests, religion teachers, teachers teaching other subjects, in the paradigm of priest-teacher co-teaching (dyad learning).
It was... „a joy, a chance to meet beautiful people, an opportunity to discover yourself, to prove that you can and to make commitments” (prof. Liliana Ștefănesi); „joy for the mind and soul! Extraordinary people brought together by a valuable event”. (prof. Loredana Dura); „a cenacle, like those of Văratec, of yesteryear, in which each guest presented his or her book or books and the fulfillment of writing and the highest thoughts-commitment” (prof. Oana-Diana Onesim).
