6th Sunday after Pentecost at the Monastery „St. John the New from Suceava”

Moments of prayer together and spirituality crowned the sixth Sunday after Pouring out of the Holy Spirit, July 24, 2022, the day on which in the Orthodox churches is read the excerpt from the Holy Gospel about The healing of the weak man in Capernaum, a miracle performed by the Savior Jesus Christ Himself.

Together with His Most Eminence Calinic, Archbishop of Suceava and Rădăuților, among the faithful and clergy present at the Monastery „St. John the New from Suceava” was also His Eminence Daniil Densușeanul, Archpriest Vicar of the Diocese of Deva and Hunedoarei.

The Hierarchs celebrated the Holy and Divine Divine Liturgy on a special podium set up in the Archbishop's compound, surrounded by a choir of priests and deacons made up of clergy from the Suceava Eparchial Center, including Arch. Paraschiv Dabija, administrative vicar, as well as ministers of the Monastery „St. John the New of Suceava”.

The liturgical responses that embellished the Mass were given by the Mixed Choir „St. John the New” of the Archiepiscopal Cathedral, directed by Fr. Ionuț Lucian Tablan Popescu.

At the moment of the communion of the clergy, the homily was given by His Eminence the Most Reverend Father Daniil Densușeanul, disciple of Father Arsenie Boca. The Hierarch spoke to the faithful about the significance of the four anonymous friends who were at the side of the weak man of Capernaum. „There can be no healing of body and soul without the forgiveness of sins through repentance, confession, confession, confession, canonization, humility and all that is proper and ordained (...) Four friends with love, with mercy, with interest, with concern for their weak and sick friend. For we too are weak, each one of us has our own sicknesses of soul and body, our sins make us weak, make us sick, the whole world is sick (...) and we all need the four friends. (...) The four friends of the sickly man in Capernaum could also be the four great prophets of the Old Testament, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Daniel. We need the friendship of the four great prophets, we need the Liturgy, the vision, the song of the seraphim, the burning coals of the vision of the Holy Prophet Isaiah. (...) The four friends, in my theological vision, as an archpriest, in the New Testament, whom every weakling and all of us together need, are the four holy evangelists. ”

Next, Archbishop Calinic presented the book published these days by Crimca Publishing House of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuților, in homage to the father of the monastery „St. John the New of Suceava”, who passed away on July 16, 2022, Archimandrite Gregory Halciuc, A long-suffering, pious and steadfast abbot - Two interviews for eternity, launching the exhortation: „Those of you who did not know him, and I am sure that many of you have not been able to penetrate into the mystery of the soul of his holiness, you can get the book from the monastery's pangar.”.

The memorial service for the soul of Fr. Gregory, the longest-serving abbot of the Monastery „St. John the New from Suceava”, who also carried out large-scale activities for the monastic settlement.

At the end, His Eminence Archbishop Calinic read prayers of deliverance and for health and raised prayers to the Most Merciful God for the blessing of the earth with rain. Today, throughout the diocese of Suceava and Rădăuților, special petitions were uttered in times of drought, for God to send quiet rain to the earth's fruitfulness.

Also on this day, the faithful present had the joy of worshipping the holy relics of St. Great Martyr John the New from Suceava, great miracle-worker, prompt helper and comforter.
