The pastoral-missionary conferences of the Archdiocese of Suceva and Rădăuților, held from December 9-14, 2021, ended today, after three days in which the clergy of the diocese were given relevant presentations and enlightening dialogues. The meetings, held online due to the current pandemic context, to prevent infection with the new virus, gathered clergy from the five protopopies of the Archdiocese.
Under the chairmanship of His Eminence Calinic, the priests of the Rădăuți and Suceava II Deaneries participated today in the conferences held in the „Pimen Archbishop” Hall of the Suceava Eparchial Center. The event was also attended by representatives of the relevant sectors of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuților, the ministers of the Holy Altars being present through an online platform.
The theme of all the clerical meetings was given by the specificity of the year 2021 in the Romanian Patriarchate: the „Homage Year of the Pastorship of Romanians outside Romania” and „Commemorative Year of those who have fallen asleep in the Lord; the liturgical and cultural value of cemeteries”.
On this occasion, the Eparchial Center has sent to each religious unit a series of books published by Crimca Publishing House of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuților:
- Orthodox Diaspora, testimonies and evocations, edited by PC Pr. Constantin Oprea and Diac. Constantin Ciprian Blaga.
- Pastoral guidelines for funerals and parastases, edited by the Mission Sector of the Eparchial Center Suceava.

After on December 9th, priests from the Suceava I and Câmpulung Moldovenesc Deaneries presented papers, on December 13th and 14th, members of the Fălticeni, Rădăuți and Suceava II Deaneries gave lectures at the pastoral-missionary conferences.
On behalf of the Balticeni Deanery, Fr. Mihail-Teofil Saftiuc, from the „Resurrection of the Lord” Parish in Dolhasca presented the report „The liturgical and cultural value of cemeteries”, and Fr. Daniel Filip, from the „Saint Martyr Haralambie” Parish in Bradățel, presented the paper „Pastorship of the faithful in diaspora and problems upon return to the country. Positive elements and dilemmas”.
The Rădăuți Deanery was represented by Fr. Dr. Vasile Claudiu Miroș, who spoke to those present, among other things, about Christian cemeteries in the early ages, and by Fr. Dumitru Babula from the „Sfântul Ilie” Parish in Rădăuți, who gave a lecture entitled „Study on the Romanian diaspora in the Italian territory - the Diocese of Torino Nord”.
During the last pastoral-missionary conference of the Suceava II Deanery, Fr. Cătălin Cornel Mureș, from the „Sfântul Mina” Parish in Suceava, spoke about „Serving in Diaspora”, and Fr. Adrian Niga, from the „Sfântul Dimitrie Izvorâtorul de Mir” Parish in Ciprian Porumbescu, presented important aspects related to the preservation and cultivation of the memory of ancestors, shown by the care of their graves.
At the end of each conference, some proposals, suggestions and requests of the relevant sectors of the Suceava Eparchial Center regarding the activity of the parishes were submitted. At the same time, the prescices made in the workshop of the Cămârzani Monastery, which has as its patron saints the Blessed Fathers Spiridon and Nicodim from Kiev Lavra, were presented. It was also announced that from January, 2022, the prescices will be available for purchase by the clergy of the diocese from their respective dioceses.
The question sessions during the meetings ended with the advice of His Eminence Archbishop Calinic on the pastoral-missionary mission that every minister of the Holy Altar must fulfill.
